Meanwhile, here’s a look back at the 2022 and 2021 Gatherings.

The 23rd Annual Portland Old Time Music Gathering has come and gone.  It was a Gathering like no other.  We experienced daily ups and downs and disappointments as performers were not able to attend.  But we pulled it off with the help of dedicated performers and volunteers.

For 2022, Many thanks to  Justin Auld for the wonderful poster and logo this year and for putting up with the many changes.  Since the poster went to the printer things changed a lot so it’s no longer up to date. The schedule page reflects what really happened.

Friday and Saturday night concerts were live streamed and you can continue to view them.  Follow the links below.

A big thank you goes out committee member Dan Leif for figuring out how to live stream to three different sites on the fly.  Way to go Dan!

Previous 22nd Annual Portland Old-Time Music Gathering Happened Jan. 14-17, 2021 on-line!

Hello everyone, the Portland Old Time Music Gathering has come and gone and we’re all feeling that it was a huge success!  Thanks to everyone who participated: the performers, workshop teachers, workshop assistants, zoom hosts, jam & song swap hosts, hangout hosts, the organizing committee, our Panel presenters, the kids who performed in the Open Mic, Bubbaville for financial support, all you Cabaret performers and all of you who watched the concerts on the Youtube channel and on Quarantine Happy Hour and who zoomed in.  It was absolutely wonderful to see  everyone from near and far (Australia, the UK, New Zealand, Alaska, way back east – US and Canada – to mention a few).  We had close to 700 inquires via email to get the zoom link, plus everyone who is a subscriber to the Old Time Newsletter and we’ve had a combined count to date of approximately 3,500 views for the concerts, Red Yarn kids’ show, the Square Dance for Two or More People and the Crankie Show!!  They are all available on the Quarantine Happy Hour Facebook page and on the Gathering’s Youtube channel (links below).  Here’s hoping we see each other in person for 2022!!

A few Zoom events got recorded.  Here’s a link to the Kids’ Open Mic. We’ll post any additional we end up with as soon as we can.

The Thursday, Friday and Saturday night concerts are available on the Quarantine Happy Hour Facebook page and on the POTMG Youtube channel. Please subscribe to the Youtube channel to keep up to date and “Join” the Quarantine Happy Hour group for easier access.

The Gathering’s Mission Statement

The Portland Oregon Old-Time Music Gathering is a grassroots volunteer-run festival that aims to celebrate and enrich the community of traditional old-time Appalachian style stringband musicians. We wish to create an environment where the music is as meaningful as it is when we gather to swap tunes and play in a friend’s living room or meet to play at a campsite during a summer festival. As such, we feel that it is important to keep the event non-profit and volunteer run; whether we are taking tickets, sweeping the floor, organizing an event, or playing music for a concert; we are all volunteers contributing to make this thing happen.
